New Hampshire car shipping covers a lot of variety for a small state. In about two hours you can drive from the Massachusetts line in Nashua to the notches of the White Mountains, and the roads change from four-lane highways to dirt lanes that turn to mud every spring. Sahara Auto Transport arranges door-to-door auto transport to and from all of New Hampshire, including car shipping in Manchester, Nashua, Concord and Portsmouth, plus lake houses and mountain homes farther north.
Many Granite Staters spend winters in Florida, and the snowbird schedule drives much of the demand. Cars head south from October through December, often to Naples, Venice and Sarasota or to the east coast around Vero Beach and Stuart, and come back north in April and May. Carriers leaving New England for Florida usually load around Boston and southern New Hampshire, so pickups along I-93 and the Everett Turnpike tend to be quicker than those up in the North Country.
Seasonal homeowners are another big group. Lake Winnipesaukee, Squam Lake, Sunapee and the Seacoast towns of Rye and Hampton fill up in summer, and many owners ship a car in around Memorial Day and out after Labor Day or foliage season. Expect longer pickup windows in Coos County and the northern Lakes Region, where we may suggest a meet point in Concord, Laconia or Plymouth to keep your schedule tight.
Pickup and delivery
Where we ship in New Hampshire
Manchester
The state's largest city sits on I-93 and I-293, and older mill-era neighborhoods on the West Side have tighter streets than the suburbs in Bedford and Hooksett.
Nashua
Just over the Massachusetts line on the Everett Turnpike, Nashua sees steady relocations from Boston-area tech workers and has quick carrier access.
Concord
The capital is where I-93 meets I-89, a natural meet point for pickups from the Lakes Region and the Upper Valley.
Portsmouth
The Seacoast's historic downtown has narrow colonial streets, so pickups often happen near the Portsmouth Traffic Circle or a lot off I-95.
Laconia and the Lakes Region
Lake Winnipesaukee towns like Meredith, Wolfeboro and Gilford are reached on two-lane roads, and summer weekend traffic is heavy.
Hanover and Lebanon
Dartmouth College and the large medical center in Lebanon bring academic and medical moves, with access via I-89 and I-91 just across the river in Vermont.

Mud season, foliage traffic and snowbird timing
New Hampshire has a fifth season: mud season. From about mid-March into April, thawing dirt roads turn soft and many towns post weight limits that keep heavy trucks off them. If you live on an unpaved road, plan to meet the carrier on pavement during that stretch. Winter itself brings regular snow and occasional nor'easters, especially along the Seacoast and in the mountains.
Fall foliage, from late September to mid-October, draws heavy traffic to the Kancamagus Highway, Franconia Notch and North Conway, which can slow pickups in the White Mountains. That window also overlaps the start of snowbird season, so Florida-bound bookings fill quickly from October on.
Local know-how
Tips for shipping a car in New Hampshire
- Registration in New Hampshire usually starts at your town or city clerk's office, where you pay the local permit fee, before the state portion is completed. Most states expect registration within about 30 days of residency, so check the NH DMV for the current deadline.
- Pull your NH E-ZPass transponder or put it in a shielding bag so it does not ping at the Hooksett, Bedford or Hampton toll plazas while your car rides on the truck.
- During mud season, if your road is posted for weight limits, arrange a meet point on the nearest paved road.
- Many towns, including Manchester, enforce overnight winter parking bans, so keep the car off the street before an early pickup.
- Avoid foliage weekends for White Mountains pickups; weekdays in early October are much easier.
